Yes, the ECO Mode function is on the B 990, but it is activated differently than other models. In the Main Menu select the Lock icon.The screen is now locked to prevent functions from being activated while sewing. Select the Lock/Unlock Sewing Functions toggle in the Lock Screen. This now behaves in the same manner as ECO Mode and will shut down all machine functions until the toggle is back on.

1. Is the machine in stitchout mode?
2. If this happens frequently, please enter the machine manually with SSID and password. See the operating instructions «Setting up WiFi connections»
3. The WiFi regularly reassigns the IP address and therefore no longer finds the machine. Turn the machine off and on or reselect the WiFi and enter the password.

To start with a new blank hoop, delete all previous layers and embroidery designs. Select the bottom layer in the layer bar to select all, and then select “Edit-Delete” to delete all designs.

Calibrate the buttonhole foot slide. Select "Setup", "Machine settings" and "Calibrate Buttonhole foot with slide 3A" and follow the instructions.

The full set of options for the File Manager are only available in the fullscreen mode. Select the Fullscreen mode icon and then select your options. Folders and files must be selected and then options (paste, copy, rename) can be applied as desired. Refer to the Help Center for additional information.

1. The smartphone has no Internet access, neither via WiFi nor directly. Enable Internet access.
2. Does the WiFi have internet connection? Must be switched on, possibly switch the router off and on (reset).
3. The machine does not have a WiFi connection (anymore). Activate or turn the machine off and on.

1. If the smartphone was in sleep mode during embroidery, the machine must be connected in the app or Stichout app must be restarted.
2. If the smartphone is no longer within range of your WiFi network, the embroidery progress can no longer be displayed, you only receive the messages.
3. If the number of stitches in the embroidery design exceeds 100,000, the pattern preview will no longer be displayed.

The last scan is saved until a new scan is made, or the previous is deleted. To delete the scan, open the Hoop Background window, select Scanned Image from the drop-down menu and select the Delete icon.

Place tear-away stabilizer underneath the fabric to stabilize it and carefully remove it once you have sewn the stitches.

This is a specially developed bobbin case with high thread tension for the BERNINA hook that is particularly suitable for embroidery and quilting.

The frequency of oiling depends on the number of the sewn stitches. We recommend to place a drop of oil onto the hook race before sewing for a longer period, but at least when the machine prompts you. When sewing bigger projects, you can oil the machine once a day.

Check the slide speed control on the front of the machine and move to the right. Here you can set the  maximum speed setting when sewing with the foot control or use it to adjust the speed when working with the start/stop button.
 

The attached Embroidery foot #26 and the needle plate have to be selected.

There may be several reasons for this:
The feed dog is down.
The stitch length is set very small.

The B 990 allows you to lock the screen and lock the sewing functions (like previous ECO mode). Select the Lock icon from the Main Menu and select the ‘Lock sewing functions.’ toggle to green to lock all sewing functions. To unlock, select the toggle and swipe up to unlock the screen.

1. In a guest WiFi, the devices may not be able to connect to each other. Guest networks are designed to connect devices directly to the Internet.
2. Is the machine and the smartphone logged in to the same WiFi?
3. Do other guests have the same problem? Then it's up to the guest WiFi setting.

Ensure the machine and your personal device are on the same WiFi network. Scan the QR Code shown on any page in the Help Center. The Help Center will open on your personal device in the set browser.

Ensure the presser foot is in the down position for an accurate image. If the camera position is still off, have a technician check to calibrate the camera.

In Sewing, if the Camera icon is red, please have a technician check the machine to ensure camera is properly connected. In Embroidery, if the Camera icon is red, ensure that the embroidery module and hoop are properly attached and recognized. Camera is deactivated without these pre-requisities. The Camera is not possible to use during Embroidery Stitchout.

Both threads follow the usual threading path, but one passes to the right and the other to the left of the tension disc

The last 24 stitch patterns sewn and their settings are saved and can be selected directly.

Check if there are any pieces of loose thread in the path of the upper thread and remove them.

Ensure the bobbin door is closed. Ensure the 5.5 mm BISR Stitch Plate with Sensor is attached properly and shown in the Status Bar. Clean all thread lint and dust from the bobbin sensor and lens.

No, the Giant Hoop is only compatible with the B 990. It will not be possible to embroider with this hoop on any other BERNINA model.

The upper thread indicator has been deactivated in "Setup". Select "Setup", "Monitoring functions" and "Activating the upper thread indicator".

There may be several reasons for this:
The door of the hook cover is open. Close it.
The sensor of the lower thread indicator is dirty and needs cleaning.
The lower thread indicator has been deactivated in "Setup". Select "Setup", "Monitoring functions" and "Activating the lower thread indicator".

Stitches show in red when they cannot properly be sewn based on current configurations. Ensure you have the proper needle, presser foot and stitch plate on the machine and selected in the user interface. If the stitch still shows red there will be a collision with the current configuration, adjust as needed.

The first displayed time (in 'Edit' screen) gives the approximate stitching time. After confirming the programming, the real stitching time is displayed. The stitching time changes depending on the stitching speed.

A size 70 needle.

Yes, that's possible, but not recommended as the stitching result is not optimal in many cases.The opening at the back of the "D"-feet keep the foot from sitting on the center row of feed teeth when the Dual Feed is not engaged.

The Presser foot pressure helps to feed the fabric evenly. I.e. heavier fabrics need more pressure (bigger number); delicate, especially softer fabrics like jersey need less pressure (smaller number).With the use of Presser feet with the Hopper mechanism (i.e. embroidery presser foot, BSR) a change of the Presser foot pressure does not bring any change of the fabric feed, as the moving of the fabric is done manually.The changes of the Presser foot pressure can be saved in the Personal Program.

On the screen, select 'Balance', then the Balance function for BERNINA Dual Feed. 'Balance' is used to fine-tune the feeding of the upper fabric layer compared to the lower layer. Refer to 'Balance/Fabric Feed' chapter in the user manual.

Whenever 'Automatic Threading' isn't possible, i.e. when using a twin or triple needle, a wing needle, needle no. 60 and when using the following presser feet: #50, #55, #80, #85, #86, #93.
